• 5.0 out of 5 stars from leon -- Encouraging and Substantial : The best thing about Sandra's book, "Knowing the Shepherd", is that it is saturated with Scripture and Scripture truth. For a mother who is struggling and for one who desires to grow, the book is practical, encouraging, and focused on drawing the reader to God by learning His attributes and worship of Him through His names. The mother who reads and studies God's names through this book will be encouraged to set goals and apply what is learned. For all of that, Sandra writes about her own experiences in a personal and intimate way, so that any mom will not feel alone in her thoughts and struggles. And to increase that benefit, there are great group questions so that mothers can gather together to share meaningful things they have learned in a context of fellowship and meditation. I highly recommend this book and say that the mothers of my grandchildren will receive a copy of "Knowing the Shepherd". ( Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2021 )

Every devotional or book for moms at that time seemed so full of the "you can do it" mentality. "It's okay to me messy, you just rest knowing you are enough. I never felt enough!! I had a colicky baby and felt so weak and alone and sleep deprived and over caffeinated. What I love about this book is that it points to who God is, and His attributes, because He actually IS enough. He is our strength and our help. You don't just have to be a mom of littles to need to be reminded of this. This book is deeply thought out, but also very practical in applying what we read through prayer and journaling.
